In addition, you must make sure that their fur is cleaned regularly and that they get daily exercise. They are not expected to be outside pets. Rather, they are sensitive and prefer to live as members of the family. Therefore, you should go for a puppy that is not very difficult to train. It is very important to learn all you can about Shiba Inu information before you purchase a dog. Listed hereunder are the steps you must take when selecting a Shiba Inu puppy to breed.

.) Choose between a male and a female puppy. Both of them have their own pros and cons but the males, in the main, are more stable. Then again, if they are not taught well on how to socialize, they can be quite aggressive. The female puppies are usually moodier but can present a gentle side as well. Choose whether you want a male puppy that is low-maintenace or a moody female that will bear more puppies.

.) Refer to the standards set by the American Kennel Colony. If you are seriously planning to breed your puppy, it must be consistent with the standards. The only valid colors of Shibas based on the AKC standards are “bright red-orange” and “black with tans points and sesame”. The colors should also have a first coating referred to as “urajiro”, which is ashen white in color. In addition, according to AKC, the hind legs of all Shiba Inu puppies must not dewclaws on them. Otherwise, you need to have them removed through surgery. Your puppy must also have the required shots for rabies protection. Woolly or long fur is prohibited for your puppy.

.) Choose a reputable breeder. call him on the phone and ask the significant questions such as if the puppies have already received their initial set of shots, what food does he feed them with, etc. Be absolutely certain that the breeder of the puppy is offering complete AKC registration with the breeding rights already included.

.) Check on the puppies yourself. Observe how they cooperate and network with each other. Go for the average puppy. You would not want to buy the biggest, meanest puppy of the litter, nor would you wish for a sickly and timid one.

.) Go purchase the one you have selected!
