It is certainly true that anyone from the most innocent computer illiterate to the most experienced web user can be scammed online if they are not careful, with scams operating daily in every city in the world. Those who are lucky enough to have managed to avoid being scammed sometimes assume that being scammed meas you were naive, but to be honest for anyone it can be tough to spot a good or clever scam. But keep in mind scams are fraud and illegal. The internet can be an easy way for some scammers to target people, but equally the web can also help people spot and reveal scams, as the criminals can be named online. Use the internet to check others opinions of new products and check if anything appears to confirm someone may be a scammer. With a cell phone number try running a reverse lookup which could give you access to background and criminal details for someone who is trying to sell you something, and this may show that they are not who they pretend to be.
