Poka Yoke is a Japanese term that means mistake-proofing. Poka Yoke can be a mechanism in any facility to home that help the person or works to no make mistakes it is a fool proof way to get the job done correctly.
Examples of Poka Yoke:
1. Your Gas cap it tied to your car so you don’t leave the gas station without it.
2. Automobile controls have a mistake-proofing device to insure that the key is in the on position before allowing the driver to shift out of park. The keys cannot be removed until the car is in park.
3. Circuit breakers prevent electrical overloads and the fires that result. When the load becomes too great, the circuit is broken.
4. 3.5 inch diskette cannot be inserted unless diskette is oriented correctly. This is as far as a disk can be inserted upside-down.
Poka-yoke can be implemented at any step of a manufacturing process where something can go wrong or an error can be made. By setting up ways to reduce errors the company and the customer can benefit in saving or time money and headaches.
