Scoliosis qnd running your own business
by admin on July 27th, 2010
Operating your own personal company can be be extremely challenging, on good days you can feel on top of the world, flourishing with eagerness, but we all have those bad days that require our inner most strength and perseverance in order to get through the day.
My personal experience of running a business has been what I call a “rewarding rollercoaster”. I always encourage people to start a business doing something they enjoy. It is a well-known fact, if we like doing something, we will put our heart and soul into it. If you get enjoyment form your work, the bad days will be easier to overcome.
I always imagined working at home to be a wonderful easy life! Boy was I wrong. Building a home based business can be very demanding. You need to ensure you have a healthy home life and work balance, not easy if you love your job I can tell you! My office is attached to my house and I spend 90% of my time in the office. I guess this is one problem with doing a job you adore…you never wish to leave it!
As well as obtaining a good work and home life balance, if you work at home you should think about the environment you work in. I have severe scoliosis and suffer a great deal of back pain because of the severity of the curvature and the compression on the rest of my body. As I have had Scoliosis since the age of 2, I adapted my posture and methods for doing things consequently. My stubbornness has not necessarily helped me. I recently had an impartial expert come to my office and inspect my equipment. Apparently my position at my workstation was not good; they spelled out how my posture was in fact causing lower back pain. I’ve now replaced my chair, desk as well as other equipment so that i’m not putting extra strain on my body.
I’ve never before considered getting advice regarding back pain relief. I always had the mindset i just had to deal with it.
I am so glad I have started researching scoliosis and back pain in general. I am not really a lover of pain relief in the form of pills so to find some online experts has been an enlightening experience.
Managebackpain.com is the best online resource. You are able to tell that the lady who runs it knows her stuff and most importantly ‘enjoys what she does’. Passion is everything in relation to business.
Why back support chairs are critical for back pain relief
by admin on July 3rd, 2009
If you suffer with back pain, and spend a lot of your day sitting down, you can get some much needed back pain relief by selecting a proper back support chair. Your chair should have chair arms. Chair arms take the weight of your arms off your back. They’re not critical, but they are helpful. If you have to make do without them, rest your arms in your lap.
The back support
Most secretarial and executive desk chairs have lumbar-support contours, which are designed for lower back pain relief, but even the best of them aren’t as effective for low back sufferers as the unadorned straight-backed chair with the back support of your choice - a rolled-up towel, cushion, pillow or commercially available backrest. Anything that provides the hollow of your back with something to rest on tends to relieve (or prevent) nagging low back pain.
Can Diet Help With Lower Back Pain
by admin on May 5th, 2009
What you eat and how much you eat affects your weight, and many back specialists believe that excess weight can sometimes contribute to low back pain. According to survey participants, however, weight is often not a critical factor in lower back pain.
Of the eighteen people in the US survey who dieted as part of their total program of back care, none felt that weight loss was nearly as important in reducing back pain as other aspects of lower back pain relief. Obviously, to be grossly overweight is to beg for a variety of medical problems. But weight loss alone is probably not a major factor in alleviating back pain.
